Religious followers aren't trying to masquerade the belief of a god as truth when they know it isn't, they're trying to spread the belief of a god because they genuinely believe it to be true. It's not a hoax.
DaCocaine said:A hoax is a deliberately fabricated falsehood made to masquerade as truth.[1] It is distinguishable from errors in observation or judgment,[1] or rumors,
Premortal said:That phrase is saying that it's distinguishable from rumors. It's blatantly saying that hoaxes and rumors are not the same.
DaCocaine said:So how is a "god" not deceiving? And let's go back to the topic.
A hoax is a deliberately fabricated falsehood made to masquerade as truth.[1] It is distinguishable from errors in observation or judgment,[1] or rumors, urban legends, pseudosciences or April Fools' Day events that are passed along in good faith by believers or as jokes.
Premortal said:The followers are not spreading the idea of a god as a hoax, they are spreading it as truth. Whether or not you believe it to be true does not make it a hoax. This is on topic, look at your original post.
DaCocaine said:A hoax is ment to deceive people, as the followers think it is real, deceiving has worked, right?
Premortal said:No, because the idea of a god did not spurn from a past deception. The idea of a god came from people in history trying to explain natural occurrences.
DaCocaine said:As science explains the natural occurrences, "God" is now clasified as fake, right?
Premortal said:No, because not everyone agrees with scientific findings.
DaCocaine said:And who doesn't believe in science? That's right, the followers of "god". Congratsulations, you've been hoaxed.
Premortal said:Not believing in science has absolutely nothing to do with the term "hoax."
DaCocaine said:It does, as the creators of the "god" hoax, also hoaxed the followers by telling them "god" was real. Accept the facts mate..
Next to that, if the boat with all the animals (according to wikipedia) approximately have 1 million animals. You know a modern ship even can't handle that many. To add up another fact, in the earth layers you can see when there was a flood. I never heard about a flood at the same time, all over the world.

Pride said:I personally believe in God. Think of it this way. You can either believe in God, and NOT take the risk of going to hell, or you can not believe in him and have a chance of going to hell. Your choice. I'd rather not take that risk.. there's lots of proof that God is real.
And if there was a God, why doesn't he show himself..?Cann!bal said:God can't be defined a hoax for we do not know if the intentions of the concept were to deceive the masses or if they thoroughly thought so, which I think they did. A theory is better than no theory at all, and their tools were quite limited. The concept of a God was totally "logical" then.
That's a total false dichotomy. Your argument, Pascal's Wager, ignores the possibility of all other beliefs and asserts they are wrong, and that the Christian God, presumably, is truth. It also asserts your God is dumb enough to fall for this save-my-ass insurance plan.
There's absolutely no proof God is real. If there was evidence of God, there would be no atheists.
Ummmm... I love how you guys talk shit about me when I'm online. You could at least tag me.DaCocaine said:Well,
What do you think?
