HOW TO FULLY FINISH SECURING YOUR NEW GAMERTAG

I have noticed a couple recent issues involving people losing a gamertag because the seller did not remove the account from his/her console and sign in and swap it from the buyer later after the purchase date.

If you purchase a gamertag you want to make sure you FULLY secure it if you do not plan on swapping it. The obvious things need to be done such as verifying no alts on the account, information changes and no linked ID's. A last crucial step is often ignored either by lack of knowledge or just plain laziness. This is the last step, this will remove the account from ALL consoles it has been signed in on and require you to re-download it.

If you ever get this message when signing into the account you NEED to do this step to avoid losing your gamertag. A user can simply sign in and tag swap the name if you do not do this.

The message: "This was last signed in on another console"

1st-Go to www.xbox.com and sign into your account
2nd-click on my account

3rd-the bottom right corner you will see "Xbox 360 Profile Protection" click on that

4th-You will want to click on Require profile download

This will remove the account from all consoles it is on and require you to re-download it.
