Surgery was free (Medicare) I think. It was a few days, you'll be back up and running in 3/4 days.

Oh yeah well then it would be free for me too, then person that said it costs isnt from Australia then lol.

and 3/4 days is good, I thought it was like 3 weeks, how long did surgery take and what not?

Are you sure it's medicare. Not your parents Private Health Insurance like HCF or NIB? I didn't think Medicare covered surgery.

Is that a serious answer? if so elaborate.
Yes it's a serious answer. There's not a great deal to elaborate on. Use the combination of tweezers and a needle, such as one of those small splinter picking needles, whatever they're called, to lift the nail up and use the tweezers to pull it out. The nail is likely to keep slipping when you go to lift it up, that's where the time + patience comes in. It'll take a bit to get the tweezers/needle, whichever you use, in on the right angle to be able to lift it with enough pressure to be pushed passed the skin.
It hurts to some extent but meh. Depends on the individual.
You could also try getting a small pair of scissors, like the ones you get in a manicure set, and cut the base of it and try pulling it out that way. Feels beautiful when it comes out.
Do that and in a few days you'll be fine.

For me, tapping it sent jolts of excruciating pain. I lost so much blood when the doctor cut it, thank God for quick clotting.
That's because you got it cut out. Key word there.

Infected toenails don't work like that, trust me, I tried. Unless you have the pain tolerance of Iron Man, don't touch your toe.
They do. I did it myself. Mine was perhaps worse then everyone on this thread. The edge of my nail (on my big toe) had grown that much that it had nearly managed to poke its way through the skin at the tip.

I kinda dont understand what a needle and tweezers could do lol, like mine is wedged deep with skin/flesh covering it.

Dig my friend.
If you can't grasp the concept, go to a doctor.

I did, all they did was prescribe anti biotics lol

Then schedule an appointment to remove it.

..Otherwise, whip out that needle and get to work.

My toe was purple for about 2 months. The nail he cut out was about 6mm wide, and 2cm long. It was sharp as well...

Again, 'cut' out. You make it sound like he took your entire nail out :|

What am I advising him to do? Enlighten me.

I had them on both toes at once, Got surgery and perm removed. I would just go with that because they are going to keep coming back any other way

Heres what you do

Get a bowl of hot water, as hot as possible and put salt in it. Put your foot in and wait gor a while, this acts like an antiseptic and will get rid of any infection.

Now if your squeemish stop reading

Put i pin in the infected part to release all the *bad stuff*

next get toenail clippers and cut diagonally across the ingrown side.

Now for the most painful part,

Your going to have to pull out the nail. But trust me, it'll be worth it!

Or just go to the doctor and get numbed while they do all that very painful stuff :)
