U.S. First Lady Michelle Obama gets her lunch at Parklawn Elementary School in Alexandria, Virginia January 25, 2012.

Students around the US can blame First Lady Michelle Obama and the US Department of Agriculture when they cant get their junk-food fix, or have to rely on fruit juice to satisfy their sweet tooth next school year.

Starting July 1, schools will no longer be able to sell unhealthy junk food in cafeterias, vending machines or at bake sale fundraisers that occur during school hours, according to a new mandate from the USDA. Schools will have to replace the junk with nutritious items. But that healthy food has its own set of requirements.

How do you guys/girls in school feel about this? I myself would be quite mad and annoyed if I was still in school. I feel like a lot of kids are just going to bring their own junk food now. As if they already didn't.

This is complete bullshit. I have to go to the gas station and buy their overpriced goods, when our school store had them for much cheaper. I hate that.

Lol, mine was the opposite.
Our school had $1 for 2 bags of chips and a dollar each per chips at the gas station.

Some shit goes for more, like 75¢ chips, that go for 50¢ at the gas station.

But, $1.50 Gatorades, that go for $2.00+ at the gas station. The candy and shit is way cheaper, too. Now that I think of it, everything is really cheaper, besides those damned chips ha.

My school's snacks are twice as much as the gas station's snacks.

Damn. It was like that my middle school.

Now:

50¢ Oreos/Nutter Butters
$1 Skittles, Sour Patch Kids
$1/$1.50 gum, I believe
10¢ Jolly Ranchers, Tootsie Rolls
25¢ Laffy Taffy, Fruit Snacks

@jason

There's more, but I'm too lazy.

The schools lunch is so bad, i buy chips out of the machines for $1 thats my lunch for the day.

Don't blame Michelle for it. Blame Barack Obama and Congress for passing it.

Maybe America will be a little less fat and more of you will live over 50.

this is why my backpack was full of bags of candy instead of textbooks in high school.

Most Americans live past 50.
This won't make the slightest dent in anyone's health, I don't know how these dipshits don't realize so. The food they serve isn't healthy anyway. Plus, schools selling less-shitty food isn't going to change a kids lifestyle.

School food in general is crap anyways, some schools will not be able to afford the "organic" route so they will buy lower quality food as usual in which the unhealthier alternative might seem healthier. (The alternative would be going back to the junk food).

My other highschool had the best lunch. They actaully cooked the food fresh, not microwaved frozen things. They had the best chicken that tasted so good that you would come back for a 2nd round.
