It is an identifying mark that can help the enemy gain access to the thing you care for the most (FAMILY) the service looks at it like this, If the enemy can ID you and collect intel on you (what the people here call a dox lol) they can get your family and hold them hostage to try and get you to spill your guts for them...

Well first of all, the marines shit on the army all day. Look at the requirements to get into the army then at the marines. Then look at the training the marines do and then at what the army does.

The marines are the ones that get all the best equipment since they are the ones that are behind enemy lines first. My cousin is a marine so I know what I am talking about.

Your a moron, you only know what your cousin tells you, not trying to be a dick, but how would he know? has he been in the army, air force, and navy too? then he would not know who has what and the best of it... That shit is just what each branch says about the other to get people to join them, yes the marines AND the airforce are the hardest to get into to, but no they are not the first one in a war zone every time, it depends on where the war is happening and what branch is needed at the time!!

I dont see why they wouldnt let you keep the tattoo, another option if cover it with something else.
Also, I know a few marines and a few from the army I don't know why the army would hate on the
marines because marines is the best branch and the hardest.

idk why they decided to do this but maybe cause there are a lot of grunts out there with full on sleeve tattoos and maybe DoD wanted something more "professional"
