How can you tell when an item will go up in price from an update?

When you know what Jagex is planning, it's easy to guess.
Ex: The ROW update increased the rare drops, since they adjusted the ring to do this. You know that everyone will be buying ROWs like crazy to see how the drops are now, and therefore, you know the price will skyrocket.

So you buy a lot of them and wait.
