Minecraft Full version for Free?

Apparently the latest version is 1.0 .. could anyone post a free full download for Minecraft?
Also, what are the requirements to play this game? I've never played it, and i'm interested. I've been trying to play it at school but couldn't find a playable free version of the full version. Thanks for any helpers :thumbsup:
