Atheist for life man. Religion causes so much pain and death and mourning throughout history. That's why I choose not to follow any.

I don't disagree with you. You can believe what you want and there is nothing wrong with that.

I just choose to not believe anything because I'm more of a facts guy.

The thing is, it's an outright lie. Who copied down thousands of years worth of literature to preserve it? Catholic monks. What are 3/4ths of US hospitals? Christian affiliated ones. Who has more charities than anyone else? Catholics/Christians. Who were the people who came up with the ideas the US is founded on? Yeah, Christians, that's right.

Also, science and religion are NOT opposites.

Who came up with genetics? A Catholic monk.

Big bang theory? A Catholic priest.

I was raised being told by my parents that I could believe anything I wanted. And knowing what we know today, anyone in my situation would choose atheism. I bet you weren't allowed to choose your beliefs, i bet you were raised as a christian.

When you are raised to believe something, you're going to believe it, no matter how absurd it is. This is because your parents told you it was real, and it is followed by many.

Take santa for example. Every kid believes in him because they were told to believe and that he was real. There are plenty of books about him, so why isn't he real? It's because we learn it's impossible for him to exist.

I decided at a young age that if god is as real as any fictional character, then he does not exist.

If you are going to condemn religion, you better start with your own.

Athiesm is an organised religion, of NOT believing in a god.

Why be religious in any way? Better to have a belief/philosophy than to label yourself.

I myself am not religious. And I dont believe in any god that this race has created.

However I dont deny that there could be an ultimate creator, I have no knowledge to do so, nor do I have the knowledge to advocate the existence of one. So I dont do either.

The whole Atheistic argument is that there is no proof of a god, yet there is no proof there isnt.

So in my eyes, you are just as bad as modern day christians, mormons, buddhists, etc.

If you have to label yourself, you really should consider reading into what the Agnostic belief is.

Its the best "religion" out there for any reasonable person that likes to go based off of facts, and that is a fact.

Basically it is a totally neutral belief, similar to what I believe in. No proof of god, no proof there isnt. Its a win-win.

Just think about what I am saying.
