On ForumKorner (like every other forum), there are ALWAYS going to be scammers.
On a daily basis now, I am seeing people getting scammed when it could of quite easily been prevented.

How you ask?
It's simple - Use a MIDDLEMAN.

I think OFFICIAL MIDDLEMEN would help reduce these kind of scams by over 50%, if not more.. Now, how would you determine who an official middleman is? That, I'm not too sure on. Maybe "trusted" individuals who have sent in VERIFIED I.D to Philly himself and are therefore VERIFIED on the forum could be part of this. I'm not saying there isn't a chance that one of these people wouldn't scam, but for sure it would stop A LOT of scams which are going down..

I'm also seeing people being compromised and then getting scammed by others. Fair enough, you may of thought the person you were talking to were legit, but why don't people actually verify its the person they are talking to? Whilst this can't be stopped completely, surely you could verify the person you are talking to via KIK, AIM, or simply by how they act on the forum?

Another suggestion would be to incorporate a system such as Two Factor Authorisation. Then if someone's account is compromised, the "hacker" would be locked out of their account as they wouldn't know the code to get into the account. However, there are downfalls to this such as forgetting the code, and not being able to access the account..

These are just some suggestions which I believe may make a tiny bit of difference to the forum, if you don't agree then fair enough!
Just pains me to see people getting scammed, I fucking hate scammers.

There is like a billion threads saying use a MM, but people never listen.

Which is why I think it should be passed as an Official thing (especially for accounts which are new).
By having an Official stance on the thing, more users would be open to using a middleman.

Great example of not listening would be that guy who got scammed out of 500 twice yesterday jaja, even though everyone told him to use mm after the first time.

You could always use @Narc who is verified.
Yep, this is exactly what I mean. It should be an official group or at least given some recognition so more people are aware of an OFFICIAL Middleman service.
I'd presume someone who is verified, would be FAR LESS likely to scam.
1 person is great, but that 1 person won't be on 24/7.

People don't like paying for MMs, and I agree. I wouldn't either. That being said, the free MMs are people not very known in the marketplace, never online when you need them, or just not willing to MM. I am highly considering becoming an MM because I've gotten like 10 PMs as of 2015 about it.

I think trusted middle mans are the only way to go.

Yeah, the issue about paying is meh..
I owned Virtualtrades/Bobbamarket and we had OFFICIAL MIDDLEMEN there. Yes, there were scams still, but those were from people who didn't use an Official Middleman. The process (for me at least), worked real good and we never had an official middleman run on a deal.
Whilst it won't prevent scamming 100%, it would prevent a lot of the scams that are occurring now.
I'd hope that if anyone becomes an "Official Middleman", then they would do it for free.

Anyhow, it's just an idea on what could be done to cut down on potential scams on the forum.

I offer to MM all the time cos I'm always online, don't charge; and hopefully people see me as trusted.

We have Offical MMs here on FK, do we not?

There seems to be a Middleman section, but the issue is hardly anyone uses it as it's not a big thing which actually stands out to users.
If it stood out more / was enforced then I believe it would help a lot.

I don't recall completely, but I am pretty sure these members are official MMs/MW.
@Abel
@Chill
@Color
@Christy
And a few more I believe..

May seem like a lot of work, but it would 100% stop people getting scammed.
Maybe the requirements could be altered a little if @Philly decided to bring this back into fruition, but for sure it would help from stopping people to be scammed.

This is what I mean, as it's hardly spoken about not many people know about them.
Therefore, why even bother using a Middleman?

It would be ideal if these "Middlemen" had their own group, or a middleman award so that they stand out more to the community.
Then you would get users who would work to getting into this group (all whilst preventing scams on the forum), which in turn makes the forum a safer community.

It might exist slightly in some form right now, but I think it needs to be put out there a lot more. I think it safe to assume that over 40% of members had no idea this even existed.

Isn't the verified group basically trusted users that you could use as middlemen?

http://www.forumkorner.com/thread-214979.html

They can be easily prosecuted and all that fun stuff due to their information being submitted. And as listed above, there are official middlemen. But you're right to an extent. If people wanna be safe, then they should do some research though.
