Hey everyone, this is just something I've been thinking about sense I was a little kid. Please don't take this seriously, it's not true and it just to stimulate thought.

The concept is simple, no one else is real and you are the only thing that exists. Everything is just being projected by your mind, your body, your house, other people. All fake. Even me, however I'm different. I'm the messenger, the sane portion of your mind trying to wake you up from this trance as I'm the only portion of your mind that understands nothing else is real. The interesting thing, is that I know you're not real, and you know that I'm not real.

I guess it sounded better in my head :s, oh well. Thoughts?

It is possible, but the chance of both of us projected the same worlds with ourselves as the only real thing is very unlikely. The best way to debunk this is by stating that. What are the chances that this many people would project the same world?

Also, this is very similar to the dream world in Inception.

Something more probably would be that something else is projecting all of us.
You, me, and everyone else.

This, though, is sort of like what the Hegelian philosophers conceived as the global mind.

So to me you're not real?

It seems a little complex to have ALL of things in society these days just be projections, I do respect your thought process however.

Is it really so complex? Theoretically you don't know the power of your mind. If your brain could project fake people, why couldn't it project fake limits?

Is it really so complex? Theoretically you don't know the power of your mind. If your brain could project fake people, why couldn't it project fake limits?

To the norm of our brain, this would be considered complex, yes.
If we could even use half of our brain power, I'd assume we'd be able to project stuff at this magnitude.

Summary: With the brain power we use at this point, this seems illogical.

Yes, but what I'm saying is everything we think we know about the brain could be an illusion in and of itself.

Did you read my reply? It is completely plausible if you're only basing it off of the power of our brain.
Did you read his original post? It is completely plausible if you ignore the problem I posed.

If you were projecting everything in the world, then you would also be projecting the people who claimed that we only used part of our brains.

I'm sorry I've seemed to ignore your reply, but I'm a little confused by what you mean. You say "What are the chances that this many people would project the same world", but what I'm theorizing implies that there is only one person. You.

If I've interpreted what you said wrong, please say so because again, I'm not so sure I understand.

This part of your post seems to imply that neither of us are real in each others minds.
If this is not the case, then this would be similar to Hegel's theory of a global mind.

I've never heard of it, sounds like it would be interesting to learn about.

It's not exactly the same as what is posed in this thread, but it is similar.
Hegel claimed that all minds were manifestations of what he called "the universal mind". That each mind is aware of his existent, but does not understand that the other people in the world are also part of the universal mind.

It seems that Hegel meant it in a literal/spiritual sense, but Marx took it into another direction. Eventually developing scientific socialism.

I feel this is all too like nihilism in a way. As long, however, as you state that the person with the conscious thought (ie me) exists, it is completely possible.

How so?

I mean, it could only be proven by yourself. If you are the only one to exist (if you even exist) would it not mean that you could confirm your existence.

This sounds so right in my head, but I don't think I'm describing it right at all.
