It is possible to jack gamertags, though these days, it's usually more effort than the tag is worth, and highly active owners will get their tag back anyway.

I'f you want a tag jacked, never go for the active ones.. Unless you swap the tag on a new account.. The reason you do this is because then, the console id number and serial isn't associated with the actual gamertag.. But in all honest opinion, the inactive ones are the ones to go for.

Doesn't matter if you swap onto a new account, they can trace that and the console ID/Serial will always be there for them.

That's odd since a buyer of one of my tags who got turboed from some skid on this site tried to get the tag back two days ago with all of the info related to account he would possibly need, (all passwords, all emails, all security info that was on the account), but he couldn't get it back since it was swapped. My buyer also was the first owner ever to recover the tag on an xbox and MS couldn't do anything since the new account of the tag was never recovered and had all separate info. Possibly just a bad representative, idk?
