Should marijuana be legal?

Here in the United States (and most other countries) marijuana is illegal. Do you think the drug should be legal? I personally think yes, there's very few bad things about it and a million great things.

On a side note, there's a vaporizer ad above me right now xD

No. Why should it be legal? You're just selfish. Other than medicinal marijuana, marijuana has no pros. They just make you high and sick.

Before anyone says anything about cigarettes - cigarettes do not make you high. In fact, if a regular smoker has a smoke, he acts much better, because all of the stress on him/her is gone.

So no - marijuana should stay illegal.

Wow @HuntedCow are you serious? So your actually promoting people have cigarettes instead of having marijuana?
Marijuana could actually cure your sickness... some people who have cancer smoke it, and have been healed from cancer. Why the hell would you promote cigarettes were people are actually addicted to it and it kills your lungs. You rather smoke rat poison than smoke a herb. Okay there..

Woah, woah, woah. You have made several wrong points.

1. I am not promoting cigarettes. I am saying, in case anyone says, "Why should cigarettes be legal, when marijuana is illegal?" I'm basically saying, cigarettes are not as bad as marijuana.

2. Didn't I say, "Other than medicinal marijuana?"

3. I wouldn't smoke rat poision, and I wouldn't smoke a herb.

Now, now, you're quite annoying. Please learn to read someone's post properly before posting back. Thanks. :D

No. Why should it be legalized?Just because authorities cannot handle it?Then, legalize also abortion, prostitution, opium, etc. If that is your thinking you are heading in a wrong direction.

If tobacco is legal, marijuana should be legal.Tobacco literally kills people. It doesn't just kill the smoker,it kills with second hand smoke.Marijuana should be regulated, but legal.

It's usually the same thing, sometimes with a slightly lower THC rate.

1. Abortion is legal

2. Abortion and prostitution have NOTHING to do with weed

3. Opium can have permanent side effects

I dont think it should for a lot of reasons...

1. people smoke it anyways
2. Kids will go to school high and the marks will drop (i have seen it)
3. and people will over smoke it and die (seen it happen)

So no and as a teen I am temped to say yes but for the right reasons im gunna say no...

Marijuana should not be legal because it is a gateway drug. People say that it could bring in tons of money to the economy and that is true but it still gets people high and gets them involved in drugs :( This is never a good thing

No way, you just want to legalized it,maybe because you just want to justify what you are doing. Whatever is legal should not be legalized, abortion is legal only in few parts of the world, here in our country it is illegal,. I am not talking about weeds I am speaking about your legality.

Beer used to be illegal, slaves were legal. Therefor, by your logic, it should of stayed that way.

I am an adult with three children. Two of which are teens, and I fully support the decriminalization and taxation of marijuana. I have smoked marijuana in my life before, but I wouldn't say this is a biased opinion.

Compared to other drugs: http://i.imgur.com/hqDEJ.png

Cannabis (Marijuana) is less habit-forming and does less physical harm than alcohol and tabacco. Cigarettes are over TWICE as addictive as marijuana.

Here's a nice picture of the effects of marijuana:

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/1/10/Bodily_effects_of_cannabis.png

Here's a nice paragraph of the effects of tobacco:

After smoking a cigarette, a smoker will have his heart rate will increase by 10 to 20 beats per minute. Blood pressure will also increase by 5 to 10 points. Nicotine and other chemicals in the smoke constrict blood vessels throughout the body. Blood and oxygen can't move as easily through narrowed blood vessels, increasing the likelihood of heart disease or stroke. The poor circulation can also make a smoker's fingers and hands cold. The nicotine in tobacco contributes to the hardening of the aorta, a large artery that moves blood from the heart throughout the entire body. This reduction in elasticity increases the risk of blood clots and also leads to an increased risk of stroke and heart attack. Tobacco has a drastic effect on lung function. Our lungs contain mucus that traps toxic particles. Small, hair-like structures called cilia are found along the walls of the lungs; the cilia move back and forth to clear out the mucus and toxic particles. Tobacco smoke paralyzes the cilia, which leads to a large increase in mucus inside a smoker's lungs. Because the lungs aren't working properly and toxins aren't being cleared efficiently, the smoker is more susceptible to respiratory diseases such as lung cancer and emphysema. The tar that collects in the lungs also alters the DNA of cells, making it difficult for them to repair themselves and leaving the smoker more vulnerable to infection and disease. Smokers often develop a persistent cough; because the cilia in the lungs aren't working properly, coughing is the only way for them to remove irritants from their lungs. The chemicals nicotine, carbon monoxide and hydrogen cyanide negatively affect the skeletal system by weakening bones. This can lead to osteoporosis. Plus, it may take much longer for a fractured or broken bone to heal. Once carbon monoxide enters the bloodstream from the lungs, it slows the flow of oxygen throughout the body. This can make a smoker feel tired. Nicotine can cause headaches, dizziness and upset stomach. Tobacco also stains teeth, causes bad breath and decreases the ability to smell and taste. The carbon monoxide and nicotine found in tobacco may cause throat, mouth and esophageal cancers. Those who use smokeless tobacco, such as chew or snuff, are much more likely to develop diseases of the mouth, including cancer of the mouth and gums.

Anyone who says that tobacco is better alternative to marijuana has obviously not tried marijuana and is ignorant in that sense.

I guess any drug should be banned from any country is it effect and harm our self. But also on other hand banning drugs will not reduce that people are taking to much drugs because people find drug in many things even in medicines or even in glues or even in animals so people will find a way for drug so people need to be careful about drugs.

OK, so morphine should be banned, pot should be legal; I agree.

Legalizing marijuana would jeopadized the community's situation. It's like OTC drugs, people will over use it for their own gain and eventually become addicted. I have tried marijuana once but it doesnt have any effect on me on my first trial...Of course, I didn't try it anymore. Even if it is been legalized to cure a specific disease or something, this weed will be easily accessed by anymore especially if you have money.
