Suggestion to stop multis

The accounts of new members need to be activated by @philly and/or the mods themselves. Basically to ip check everyone joining. This could stop/prevent multis altogether in my opinion. 

Just a thought, not sure if it's possible here, but I've seen it done elsewhere.
 
They could hop on a vpn though unless you ban connections from a vpn or proxy to the site
 
Well if this is the case then i believe we all know this needs to be implemented
 
I think this would be a great idea to stop the multis, or they can just ip ban them so they won't be able to make any other accounts......
 
An IP change is one phone call away from your internet company. Nothing is going to stop multi's.

True but some them ain't gonna wanna go through all this, therefore it will reduce the multis
 
This is an effective method to maybe stopping multis but certainly reducing them!
 
I doubt any of the current staff members are willing to sit hours for people to join and then check to verify them..
 
Lol this isn't done already? That's pretty surprising.

Another thing is, I'm pretty sure when I signed up I didn't even have to activate my email, it auto registered me as a member. If that is still the case then that should also be changed.

If you look at newest members in a day it wouldnt be that long and its part of being a successful mod. Maybe make it so they cant make a thread or send a message until theyre verified. I know it puts some people off joining having to wait.
 
This wouldn't be very efficient at all. Plus, majority use a VPN.

What about sending a activation link to the email you entered and you have to click on the link to activate your account. That will surely cut down on Multi's that are just trying to get on real quick to cause some trouble. Worth a shot and it's all done automated so the mods or admins don't need to physically do anything.

(Or is this already implemented?)
 
Probably the worst suggestion I've ever seen. Most boards have it so only 1 user can be registered with the same IP, but that doesn't mean they can use one IP to sign up like lets say a free proxy and then just go back on their regular IP address.

I've addressed that in a previous post. @fear and other mods can tell if it's a proxy/vpn. If it is, just ban them.

Some public ones are easy to tell but not if they're private and users should be banned just for using a VPN since they want Anonymity and staff/admins shouldn't ban just off of suspicion
