So in approximately 4 hours, I have a time trial for an u16's football team. Incredibly nervous being a year younger than majority of those trying out.
What's your record for a 3km time trial? (1.86 miles) I suppose I'm about to find out.

It's the insightful and quality posts like this one that allows the community to thrive.

Regardless, I'd say you should run it in less than 16 minutes.

Just remember I'm not as fit as you...I assume

I'm not that fit at the moment lol, but when I am fit.. I'd run a full game of footy playing midfield with out swapping positions or going on the bench.

I run just over a 5 minute mile but I'm considered fast, flexible and pretty fit..agility training for hockey helps this immensely. Can't help you with times for a 3km trial though...when I get off break i'll run 3km and let you know how long it takes.

Well, I don't train at all and I am still able to pull off a 6-7 minute mile without too much trouble. So I would say 1.86 miles should be done in under 13 minutes.

Well, it's over. I am absolutely f*cked. We did, 3 x 400m sprints + the 3km time trial.
I managed to pull 11:17 for the time trial and with the sprints we did 90 seconds: 90 seconds recovery. I managed to do each set of 400m within 50-65 seconds.

3 sets of 400s would do alot better than 3km.

Out training last week was..
5 200m, walk 50m, 15 second rest
3 300m, walk 50m, 15 second rest.
3 400m, rest 40 seconds.
2 600m, rest 60 seconds.
Fair few people were throwing up after this.

& then followed by about 45 mins of skills.

Keep in mind we are seniors though, but this was like our second pre season training when most of us are unfit as fuck, and they said it will be easy and that we will ease into it for the first few weeks...
So I'm not looking forward to whats gonna happen in a few weeks lol

Damn, that's intense. My concern was that I'd be up against those that have been training for this over the past 2 years, considering they've played for this team last year and have developed more than I have. Although I came first in the sprints and about 10th with the time trial, so I was satisfied.
Yeah, we also did approximately an hour of ball skills, even that was rough given we did it after the time trial. 1 training session down, 10 to go...until the cuts are over.

You should do it in 8 minutes. Go on world record pace or GTFO.

Trying out for Gippsland Power today, highly doubt any of you will understand what that is except for possibly @"Tyler".
Got a 1km time trial. (0.62 miles) Aiming for 3:10 on the first and 3:10-3:15 on the second if we're required to do it again.

Ofcourse I know gippsland power lol.
We did 3 1km time trials with about 2 and half mins break on wednesday.. i got 3:10, 3:22 then 3:06, I was in the bottom 30% for the first 2 but top 15% in the last one.

I'm extremely unfit at the moment though So I'm aiming to get it in 2:20 in a few weeks, as I was a 800m and 1500m runner from age 9 to about 14.
