@Serene, my guess is as good as yours. I dont think any of us are ever supposed to know. And maybe its better that way.

However, there are thousands of good reasons I could point out to you, or questions about "god" that you couldnt answer. It simply would be pointless, you believe in what you believe. To each his own.

If I could convey one thing to you, it would be not to label yourself, because your are then committed to meeting those standards, and that could interfere with you living the life you want to live. If you dont meet those standards (VERY few people do) then people like me can make a joke out of your religion. It just isnt good to label yourself overall. A word of advice, you dont have to take it.

I've seen SOAD live too many times. Serj is pretty much my idol and is extremely open minded and true and passionate about his music. Props to you for knowing what my original avatar was from lol.

Personally, I believe in meaning to our existence. What evidence has influenced me? Well tbh not all that much. Near death experiences have influenced my view on religion. The experiences seem too similar to ignore in my view. I also can't comprehend how we have been made without some guidance. There are so many factors that influence our survival on a daily basis that together makes the universe need a lot of planets. Maybe, we are just an enactment of probability or maybe we are something more. The one thing I know for sure is that our view of beginning and end doesn't apply to the universe around us (things exist), and maybe our view of beginning and of end doesn't apply to us as humans.

People just want to believe in these things because they want something after you die, so your life is not just a waste of time. I believe there is something after life, maybe a new chance of life, but I will not believe anything that has been made up so far, as there is no proof for any of it.

I personally believe that people made up the idea of heaven and hell because they are afraid of death, they want to feel like they are immortal even after death. But, one day they will realize there is no such thing.
