Joyce Vincent was watching TV in her flat when she suddenly died, most likely due to an Asthma Attack. Her body was undiscovered for over 3 years until officials broke in. Her TV was still flickering in front of her, and the Heating was still on. Her rent was paid half by Metropolitan Housing Trust and officials finally broke in when she owed £2,400 and went to repossess the flat. Neighbors believed that the flat was unoccupied and the rotting body smell was from a nearby dumpster. Her body was so badly decomposed that she had to be identified from dental records. Vincent was living, and the family wrote letters to her, but as she was already dead by this time, they received no response, and the family assumed that she had deliberately broken ties with them.
