Jerlene said:More people have morals and ethics because of religion. I think that the world would be horrible if there was no religion.
Bit said:Even with all the holy wars started?
Alt said:Of course the world would be better off without religion, are you kidding me? What a fucked up concept, that people are too weak to behave on their own and they need god to keep them in line and give them purpose! Thats part of the message so the cycle continues, @Beats and @Skunk I deem you useless human beings for such answers. And @jarlene. Look at all of the atheists...we are just fine and studies show us to be happier. The countries with the most atheist population in the world are also the countries that repeatedly show they are the happiest and most functional. Religion is a poison and a disease. I wish I could take all atheists to another habitable planet with me and leave the garbage here. How disappointing that it has been THOUSANDS of years and you guys still haven't been able to do your part and break one more link in the cycle.
Im not going to back my answer with anything, i've done it too many times and this thread has been made too many times. Always goes in one ear and out the other
Skunk said:I am a useless human being for having an opinion? You are extremely immature and ignorant.
Alt said:I cant read this thread anymore. It is beyond frustrating to read some of these responses.
Not for having an opinion, but for the substance that it consists of. I think you meant to call me arrogant, a lot of ignorant people confuse those two words.
Skunk said:With absolutely no reason to have a moral code imagine how many more would have been started.
Beats said:No. I believe the world is better WITH Religion.
This is because I believe that people in the world are better people when believing in something higher. If there wasn't Religion there would be chaos.
Religion makes people believe in something. Most of the world would die if there wasn't Religion.
Just my opinion.
Skunk said:I meant intolerant rather than ignorant but I got autocorrected. Now that I think about it arrogant seems to fit better though since you are outraged every time someone has an opinion that opposes your beliefs.
Cann!bal said:Blatantly so. Religion is the parent of wrongdoing, intolerance and ignorance. It sprouts all evil, (I dare you to name one evil concept it doesn't ignite) it is the justification of all things wrong and it is humanity's grandest hindrance in our voyage to comprehend the Cosmos scientifically and philosophically; deny this? Well -- I suggest you inquire on the advancement gap it left in the Dark Ages.
Withal, I think religion was a necessary and inevitable element in the progression of mankind. It has made rationality, logic and reason martyrs to those who comprehend the dread of religion.
It doesn't take religion or a dictated material moral code to understand murder and lying is wrong.
War happens for political, religious, and geographical purposes, not for lack of morality. Essentially never for any other purposes. They would not mindlessly go around killing and initiating wars because a moral code isn't dictated to them. That's malarkey. Look at our hominid ancestors. Undoubtedly the had some sense of morality for their pack, family. Morality is an intrinsic principle in nature of man thanks to Evolution, for it granted us intelligence as a favorable trait to survive and thrive, instead of the contrapositives.
You're basing all these assertions off a foundation of bias and void. Having something to say and having to say something are completely different.
