It'd probably be a lot of agree to disagree
Beam said:You and @Kowai should brainstorm to make me the beastyist PC for just under $2000 usd.
Beam said:Well maybe i could then, ill definitely hit you up before final purchase about it.
Package said:if you buy a regular keyboard you shouldn't buy a gaming pc
Astro said:It's the easiest thing in the world. Everything is labelled. You actually have to be an idiot to get something disastrously wrong.
I built my first (decent) PC last week, takes like 2 hours.
Beam said:Because thats totally what im doing
Well i have never done it in my life, so i stated zero experience.

Moth said:I think @Kowai's build is gr8, but mine is a bit better for the price (lol)
sorry @Kowai </3
http://pcpartpicker.com/p/nPBQ23
to @Kowai:
I think the watercooling was a lil overkill imo
and @beam seems to not be a computer expert soo
that would be a mess
and I also felt he needed more memory bc he said he wants to do a lot of stuff at once
Ik 16 gigs is plenty, but 32 is great for multitasking (i wanted 24gb but I couldn't get it with my motherboard)
to @Beam:
1. is this 2k for the whole build (including mouse, monitor, etc.) or just the pc itself?
2. how experienced are you with building pcs?
3. What types of games/stuff are you going to do on this computer?
Paradox said:Video Card
Gigabyte Radeon R9 390 - $329.99 (out of stock atm on Amazon, will come soon)
Astro said:Why would you suggest such an abomination?
Alaska said:I agree with @Paradox, that build should last you 2-3 years.
Also, who the fuck needs 32gb RAM? Like really?
Paradox said:Such an abomination is quite hot, but it's cheaper + better than the 970/980, especially the Gigabyte 8GB version from AMD.
I didn't want to get a 980 Ti, cause it's a more hardcore GFX card for like 4k gaming, expensive, and I'm scared of the 8350 bottlenecking the damn card. Plus it's really not needed.
You should see my build.. you would be like "really nigga"
Astro said:But why not get the 290? It's the same card at 60% of the price.
Sorry, but anyone that suggests a R9 300 card has clearly not seen past AMD's marketing. It is a rebranded card with very minor tweaks.
Unfortunately AMD hasn't done anything game changing with their much anticipated 300 and Fury lines.
Paradox said:You should see my build.. you would be like "really nigga"
Alaska said:Show me, I want to see how overkill you went on it lol.
Paradox said:Maybe a 290 would be in order, but the 390 is quite honestly a bit better in the right areas, if we are talking about a gaming/graphics hybrid computer. I'm aware of AMD's shitty marketing, so yeah I do agree about the 290. Similar cards, but I just think it's better for what he wants to do.
Paradox said:http://pcpartpicker.com/p/dJnsFT
I have a good portion of these parts so far. I have the CPU, the 2 GFX cards and the case.
Astro said:Tell me exactly how it performs better for its price premium. I'd like to be enlightened, as I don't know of anything that gives it any significant performance increase.

Alaska said:4k for a PC, gg your wallet. It's a pretty dope build though.
Paradox said:I was considering the 290 over the 390, but I'm not quite sure yet.
Nothing significant I guess you can say. Double the memory, and higher speeds. A much better MEMORY performance overall. I really like it having more memory. In terms of rendering pixels and stuff, pretty damn sure they are about the same. Don't get me wrong, the 290 and the 390 are both powerful cards but I think that the 390 is better. Also we haven't discussed overclocking, and the fact that monitors can determine how fast and how clear images appear on the screen, cause no matter how amazing your card is, it can get fucked up by things like your monitor's refresh rate and shit like that, so it'll SEEM to perform the same. This is why I want to talk to Beam tomorrow on iMessage, I want to make sure I know what exactly he's gonna do, cause if he wants 1440p gaming, then the 390's gonna beat the 290.
Astro said:Higher memory has been proven to make little difference in gaming under 1440p. Today's games simply don't have memory load for anything to make a great difference. If you want useful memory, you're better off getting the 980 Ti because it's going to last longer. Sure, the 290X is a great card for a value gaming build - but getting a 390X is literally throwing money at AMD for memory that you won't even use, and by the time you need to use it (in a year or so) the card will be too far outdated to play at the desired high settings.
The kid has a reasonable budget, don't waste your time with a 390X. The 980 Ti or SLI 970s are the best bet.
