Well maybe i could then, ill definitely hit you up before final purchase about it.

It's the easiest thing in the world. Everything is labelled. You actually have to be an idiot to get something disastrously wrong.
I built my first (decent) PC last week, takes like 2 hours.

Prior to building my PC, the only actual experience I had was sourced from youtube.
As someone else described, it is very similar to building a lego, only with bigger bits.

Accidentally exited out of my first draft, so I'm pissed about this. Will try to make it similar.

Why get an i7 4790k when you can get the FX-8350? It's supposed to be a semi-cheap setup and the i7 is not really all that much better. In fact the entire i7 series is almost similar in performance. There's no point to buying such a cpu when you can get a much less expensive one that has similar performance.

Note that @Beam is Canadian, so $2000 in CAD is about $1600 USD. That $400 is a pretty big difference, so you have to work around it. You are also forgetting about shipping costs. I'm totally down to let Beamerino use my Prime account for discounts + free two-day shipping, though.

With that said, let's get into my build.
http://pcpartpicker.com/p/Bg3zwP

CPU
AMD FX-8350 - $165.93

CPU Cooler
NZXT Kraken X61 - $125.99

Motherboard
Asus M5A99FX PRO R2.0 - $121.98

Memory
Corsair Vengeance 16GB - $106.99

Storage
Samsung 250GB SSD - $99.89
Western Digital 1TB 7200RPM - $66.99

Video Card
Gigabyte Radeon R9 390 - $329.99 (out of stock atm on Amazon, will come soon)

Case
NZXT Phantom 530 (White) - $118.99

Power Supply
Corsair RM850 850-Watt - $125.99

Optical Drive
Asus DRW-24B1ST/BLK/B/AS - $18.89

Operating System
Windows 8.1 OEM (64-bit) - $96.98

Case Fan(s)
Corsair Air Series AF140 Quiet Edition x2 - $21.59 x 2
Cooler Master Megaflow - $9.99

Total : $1431.78 (or something around there, about $1500)

You like cost efficiency, yeah? You like MOTHERFUCKING COOLERS?? You like WATER coolers? No, you don't. I know you don't beam, so let me get clear on this. IF YOU DON'T WANT TO MAKE YOUR ROOM INTO A MICROWAVE, GET A WATER COOLER. The Kraken is a closed loop cooler, which is better than an open loop in every way except that it's not customizable and you can't add more radiators or waterblocks, but you're not experienced in computers enough to do that, so who gives a shit right? You have to buy paste for it like once or twice in it's whole life. (it's like $5, calm down), but it's worth it. As long as you don't cut corners and follow my/the manufacturers instructions to the dot, this thing will not break on you. Guaranteed. One thing to note, although I made this thing 80% AC, a computer's a computer. Some computers can get up to 200°F. That shit WILL GET HOT. Especially since you will be hard multi-tasking. Therefore, don't be angry when you feel the fire. I'm pretty sure you live in a decently small room, so here's some advice. I understand you want to "multi-task" and shit. I really do. I understand. You should probably get into a habit of not having a bunch of unneeded things open. Overall, this things a beast.

@Beam
I can go a whole lot more depth into this when you get up, when you see this text me. I have to know some other... personal things. You know you can ask my personal opinion on anything.

As for anyone else, please try to figure out anything wrong in my build for the price, and possibly work off of mine to make something that's better, I'm really trying to help out an amazing friend here.. besides, the truth is only found through vigorous debate.

I agree with @Paradox, that build should last you 2-3 years.

Also, who the fuck needs 32gb RAM? Like really?

Why would you suggest such an abomination?

Such an abomination is quite hot, but it's cheaper + better than the 970/980, especially the Gigabyte 8GB version from AMD.

I didn't want to get a 980 Ti, cause it's a more hardcore GFX card for like 4k gaming, expensive, and I'm scared of the 8350 bottlenecking the damn card. Plus it's really not needed.

But why not get the 290? It's the same card at 60% of the price.
Sorry, but anyone that suggests a R9 300 card has clearly not seen passed AMD's marketing. It is a rebranded card with very minor tweaks.

Unfortunately AMD hasn't done anything game changing with their much anticipated 300 and Fury lines.

Maybe a 290 would be in order, but the 390 is quite honestly a bit better in the right areas, if we are talking about a gaming/graphics hybrid computer. I'm aware of AMD's shitty marketing, so yeah I do agree about the 290. Similar cards, but I just think it's better for what he wants to do.

Tell me exactly how it performs better for its price premium. I'd like to be enlightened, as I don't know of anything that gives it any significant performance increase.

I was considering the 290 over the 390, but I'm not quite sure yet.

Nothing significant I guess you can say. Double the memory, and higher speeds. A much better MEMORY performance overall. I really like it having more memory. In terms of rendering pixels and stuff, pretty damn sure they are about the same. Don't get me wrong, the 290 and the 390 are both powerful cards but I think that the 390 is better. Also we haven't discussed overclocking, and the fact that monitors can determine how fast and how clear images appear on the screen, cause no matter how amazing your card is, it can get fucked up by things like your monitor's refresh rate and shit like that, so it'll SEEM to perform the same. This is why I want to talk to Beam tomorrow on iMessage, I want to make sure I know what exactly he's gonna do, cause if he wants 1440p gaming, then the 390's gonna beat the 290.

Higher memory has been proven to make little difference in gaming under 1440p. Today's games simply don't have memory load for anything to make a great difference. If you want useful memory, you're better off getting the 980 Ti because it's going to last longer. Sure, the 290X is a great card for a value gaming build - but getting a 390X is literally throwing money at AMD for memory that you won't even use, and by the time you need to use it (in a year or so) the card will be too far outdated to play at the desired high settings.

The kid has a reasonable budget, don't waste your time with a 390X. The 980 Ti or SLI 970s are the best bet.

The only thing I have to worry about is the Ti bottlenecking, although I'm pretty sure since the 8350 is a 4 Ghz processor I don't really have to worry about it bn'ing the Ti. The Ti is a much better card but I feel that maybe it's too out of his budget as well, but it's definitely something I shouldn't be cheaping out on. I tried to find the best card for cheap, but I think maybe a Ti is possibly affordable. That's about like $300+ added onto his current build, so it's what $1800 now?
