Hope subsists long as they live. Death warrants no hope. They're dead!

False hope is all we are giving them. How do you advocate a false hope to people who are mentally lost? That's just as sick. We aren't doing enough to help these people. Once I see advancements in mental illness research, then I'll agree that they should live. Until then, why should we let them believe in something that's not there? What's next, tell them there's an afterlife in heaven?

no hope? lock them in a box of solitude instead, that should get their hopes up... not at all. these people are completely gone from reality and they are suffering. I wouldn't say that this type of execution is any worse than mercy killing.

@Leader someone who is mentally detached, but aware of their crimes.

The mentally ill will be treated sufficiently in a hope to cure them from their ailments. Killing them is considered eugenics.

And what happens when the treatments all fail as they consistently do? Lock them up and say everything will be fine?

Yea, but mental ill people are aware what is happening. A big example is
schizophrenia. The person I saw a documentary on knew what was wrong from good. Meaning instead of saying mental illness be more specific.

We continue to strive for perfection and attempt to find treatments that work.

That's not even true. How is it fraudulent hope? There's real hope for them: there's constant advancements in the field of mental illness!

You're advocating eugenics! I don't think you understand the extremity of how sick and demented your ideology is!

"What's next, tell them there's an afterlife in heaven?"

You're talking irrelevant malarkey.

this isn't always true though. Dozens of convicts defined as mentally ill have been
executed because they were aware of theirs crimes. Hundreds more are unaware and are protected by international law.

I am just confused how you are unaware you killed someone. Just give me a disorder that wouldn't make you realize you killed someone.

we do kill insane murderers, as long as they understand why we are executing them. We barely attempt to understand them. Mostly this is done as closure for the circumstances family.

You know what I meant..... I'm talking about the point you made earlier... You can't bring other points up in hopes to counteract my argument.

I believe that the government doesn't support enough research projects. And the hope of heaven is almost identical to the hope that a mental illness will be cured.
Also I think my opinion will be biased anyway because of my personal experience with the issues of this topic.

it's not that they don't know they killed someone, rather they are confused why it is a crime or why there is a consequence.

I don't even know what you are referring to honestly. I wasn't even refuting you in the post of mine you quoted.

It doesn't need to be cured if it can be controlled.

EX: Anorexia, Bipolar, ETC.

When you use mentally ill make sure to be specific and not use it like if you are mentally ill you are crazy trying to kill anyone.

ok I'll give you that. Control is better closure for the patients family.

The first verse in the Quran.

“ … If anyone slew a person unless it be for murder or for spreading mischief in the land it would be as if he slew the whole humanity: and if anyone saved a life it would be as if he saved the life of the whole humanity.” (Al-Qur'an 5:32)

I believe it's justified, a life for a life.
