No matter what happens, they will come back. This rule should just be altered to stop scamming completely.

But how can you stop scamming completely? Even if it's against the rules, people still do it.

I know but, it doesn't hurt to try.

Change the 3 month to a perma ban. Or at least a longer period.

Then the dumbasses who scam, might actually forget about this site and never come back.

Except for Carbon lol. Yeah the rule should be changed to a Perm Ban, because you ruin peoples lives, you shouldn't be allowed to ruin someone else's.

@[Prayer], "ruin"? It depends how badly they scam.

$1.3k, then yeah. Ruined.

$5 or 5m, then no.

I don't fully agree with this, When they come back they should just not have access to use/view the marketplace.

@[Ninja], probably the smartest post in this thread.

Totally agree with that.

They shouldn't have access to the forums.

Why shouldn't they?

They can't scam anyone again, without the Marketplace.

This forum doesn't just rely on the marketplace.

Also if they got put into a group with the userbar as "scammer", "Caution when trading" or something similar would help too.

It's still letting them off the hook, even if they can't scam anymore.

If they want to stay on the forum, don't scam someone. They chose to scam the person, so they shouldn't be allowed back on. It was their fault..

Or at least determine the length of the ban on how much they scammed. For instance, Carbon, Banned forever.

A userbar saying "Scammer" would help but when again it wouldn't.

If they scam anything over $500 it's perm, for sure.

Even though a scam is a scam, no matter what the amount, but what he did to the members here was completely uncalled for.

In my mind I think they should be perm banned Untill they give the full amount back that they scammed Then once they do that They may come back and TE or w.e will give them a -rep saying Banned for scamming before Be wary when making deals

That to me makes 100% sense Any one else?

a userbar with scammer on it might actually work. It's just that some people might be dumb and fall for it again. If worst comes to worse, the marketplace should be taken out, which I know would never happen.

@[Dungeoneering], that's happened on HF, people still ignore it and are like "derp, they're trusted".

As for the "Scammer" userbar, people could make a fake story up, such as "Oh, I paid for my own user group, I thought "Scammer" would be funny.

Good idea, if they can't get perm banned, they have the userbar Scammer, then he/she can't scam again, unless someone is reeallyy stupid.
Make sure people know "scammer" is an official userbar, maybe The Elite should make a thread, if it ever happened.

What if TE would set out maybe a PM or an announcement on top of the forum?

Maybe include it on the "Intro" PM, we received?
As well as a announcement for a week or so?

But then newcomers wouldn't know if it was announced just for 1 week.

Hence why it would be in the "Introduction PM".

It would be annoying if it was an announcement forever, unless we could "X" out of it.

All of these ideas about "Scammer userbars" or a -rep/-vouch from TE are all decent, and I would consider them to be a slight improvement from how scamming is dealt with presently.
However, they are still not really addressing the issue at hand. These ideas would still show that scamming to some degree condoned in the community, every bit as much as a temporary ban does.

Each and every post that has been made in my thread is beginning to Segway away from the whole point.
Scamming should not be tolerated, and all scammers must be treated equally.
Concrete evidence of a scam should suffice for a permanent ban. Period.

Though some of you may think that there's a big difference between scamming $500 and scamming $5, there really isn't. The lack of principle behind it is the same.

If any of you would like to continue suggesting band-aids for bullet wounds, please make your own suggestion threads. Thank you.
